Description
1997-98 Matt Johnson Los Angeles Kings Game Worn Jersey Team Letter
Lot #161
This home white air-knit gamer by Starter was worn by Matt Johnson during the 1997-98 NHL season. The Los Angeles Kings selected Johnson in the 2nd round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. This 6’ 5” enforcer made his NHL debut with the Kings in 1994-95. He would spend his first 5 years in the league with LA before moving on to represent the Thrashers for a lone season and finally the Minnesota Wild for 4 years. Johnson played in 473 games and amassed an impressive 1523 PIMS. Johnson set a career high in PIMS with 249 while wearing this sweater during the 1997-98 season.

The game wear on this 1st set size 60 goalie cut sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer and inner pilling. A unique oddity inherent to this gamer is a broken off piece of a stick blade that resides caught up on the inside hem. This is the only sweater we can ever remember that still has a broken off piece of stick blade residing within. Sewn to the inside hem is the official Los Angeles Kings game worn jersey and set tagging. An interesting and unique mammoth sized offering from this former heavyweight. This jersey will be accompanied by a Kings team letter.
