Description
1997-98 Doug Houda New York Islanders Game Worn Jersey - Team Letter
Lot #221
This road blue air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Doug Houda during the 1997-98 NHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Houda in the 2nd round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. All told, Houda would spend parts of 15 seasons in the NHL where he was apt to let his fists do most of his talking. In 561 career games on NHL bluelines, Houda amassed 1104 PIMS. Houda’s tenure on Long Island lasted merely a year and a half.

Offered here is Doug’s alternate from the 1996-97 season. This jersey originates from the 1996-97 and 1997-98 team sets that we purchased directly from the New York Islanders back in the fall of 1998. This is one of the most rare jersey styles in New York Islanders team history. Removed from the right breast of this gamer is the New York Islanders 25-year anniversary patch. The Islanders wore these traditional crested jerseys as their alternates during the 1996-97 season and then recycled them into their 1997-98 regular season set with the anniversary patches having been removed.

Custom sleeve inserts have been added to aid in Houda’s pugilistic ways. The game wear on this customized size 54 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. On the inside crest is a black sharpie signature in the hand of the New York Islanders equipment manager. This jersey will be accompanied by an Islanders team letter.
