1996 Peter Bondra Team Slovakia World Cup of Hockey Game Worn Jersey
Lot #105

This blue air-knit gamer by Nike was worn by Peter Bondra during the 1996 World Cup of Hockey. The Washington Capitals selected Bondra in the 8th round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. Peter made his NHL debut with the Capitals in 1990-91 and spent the first 14 years of his 16-year NHL career with Washington before finishing up with brief stints in Atlanta and Chicago. During that time, Bondra was one of the NHL’s most dynamic goal scorers, scoring a career best 52 goals twice, in 1995-96 and 1997-98. Peter played in five NHL All Star Games and was also a regular on the international stage. Despite being born in Ukraine, Bondra called Slovakia home and represented them in numerous international competitions including the World Cup of Hockey, World Championships and a couple of Olympics. When all was said and done, Bondra had joined the prestigious 500-Goal club, ending his career with 503 Goals.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. Sewn to the left shoulder of this gamer is the 1996 World Cup of Hockey patch. The game wear on this size 56 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, material pulls and inner pilling. Affixed to the inner hem is the official Nike barcode. A terrific offering complete with the coveted letter of honor hailing from the inaugural World Cup of Hockey and worn by this 5-time NHL All Star and 500-Goal club member.
