Description
1996-97 Pierre Turgeon St. Louis Blues Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match - Assisted on Hull's 500th Goal
Lot #126
This home white air-knit gamer by Starter was worn by Pierre Turgeon during the 1996-97 NHL season. This 19-year veteran was the 1st overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1987 NHL entry draft. He played for 5 seasons in Buffalo before being dealt to the New York Islanders in a deal for Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine. Pierre spent 4 years on the Island before moving about to Montreal, where he would serve as Captain, St. Louis, Dallas and Colorado. In nearly 1300 games played, Pierre tabbed 515 goals and 1327 points. He won the 1992-93 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy awarded to the player who best exhibited sportsmanship and high ability. Having achieved the 500-goal plateau and averaging better than a point per game during his career will undoubtedly land Pierre in the Hall of Fame in the near future.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this 2nd set size 54 sweater is solid and consists of numerous stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, pulls and heavy areas of pilling. As shown on the photo matched Upper Deck card above, this was the exact jersey that Turgeon was wearing on December 22nd 1996, the night he assisted on 4 goals including the 500th goal in Brett Hull’s Hall of Fame career! On the inside hem is the official St. Louis Blues game worn jersey and set stamp. A tremendous photo matched example that Turgeon wore on a historic evening in St. Louis, choice.
