1996-97 Mike Morrone Detroit Whalers Game Worn Jersey – Last Franchise Season
Lot #209
This road blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mike Morrone during the 1996-97 OHL season, the team’s second season and last year of existence. This Windsor native spent four years playing junior hockey in the OHL before making his minor-pro debut in 1996-97 with the ECHL’s Richmond Renegades. Morrone’s career spanned four years in the ECHL and also included a brief time with the AHL’s New Haven Beast. This tough guy set a single season career best 281 PIMS in just 65 games during his second professional season with the Renegades.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and trauma, fight abuse and fine inner pilling. Morrone served as Team Captain during the Detroit Whalers second and last year of existence. In 46 games played, Morrone scored 20 points and added 206 PIMS during the regular season and playoffs. A nice Captain’s jersey from a short-lived franchise.
