This home white air-knit gamer by Nike was worn by Dan Kordic during the 1996-97 NHL season. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Kordic in the 5th round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. This Edmonton native is the brother of deceased NHL enforcer John Kordic. Dan made his NHL debut with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1991-92. Kordic spent all 6 years of his NHL career with Philadelphia where he played the role of enforcer. Standing at 6’ 5” put Dan in the heavyweight class and he willingly stood up to the leagues best fighters, recording back-to-back years of 210 PIMS from 1996-98 and ending his career with 584 PIMS in 197 games played.
Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals patch. The sleeves on this gamer have been custom shortened for Kordic by the team. The game wear on this size 58 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, inner pilling and fight abuse with a stitch popped front collar, plenty of washed out bloodstains and a heavily stitched and reinforced fight strap. We haven’t been able to find any hi-res images of Kordic from the Cup Finals and therefore can’t say with certainty that Dan wore this during the Finals, thus allowing for the possibility that this may have only been worn during the regular season and or playoffs and prepared as a Cup Finals backup by the team. A terrific Cup Finals patched gamer hailing from the height of the Lindros era in Philly that was brawled in by one of the NHL’s heavyweight enforcers.
