Description
1996-97 Adam Oates Washington Capitals Game Worn Jersey - "JB"
Lot #152

This road blue air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Adam Oates during the 1996-97 NHL season. This future Hall of Famer made a name for himself setting up some of the great snipers of the modern era. First it was Brett Hull in St. Louis, next it was Cam Neely in Boston and finally it was Peter Bondra in Washington. His playmaking abilities led him to the rank of 6th in career NHL assists with only Gretzky, Francis, Bourque, Messier and Coffey ahead of him. Through his lengthy career, Adam accumulated nearly 1100 assists and better than 1400 career points which ranks him 16th all-time. Oates was a 2nd Team NHL All Star at Center and played in 5 NHL All Star games.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the JB patch, in honor of the passing of long time Washington Capitals executive Jack Bulldog Button. Oates, who earned his 5th and final NHL All Star game appearance this season, was dealt from Boston to the Capitals on March 1st and played a total of 17 games in his first year with Washington. The game wear on this sweater perfectly coincides and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, pulls and inner pilling, a well-salted fight strap and a team-sewn repair. These JB patched examples aren’t often seen in the hobby making this jersey, worn by a future Hall of Famer, all the more desirable, choice!
