1995-96 Sandy Smith Minnesota Moose Game Worn Jersey - Career Best 35-Goal 41-Assist & 76-Point Season
Lot #349

This road black knit gamer by Bauer was worn by Sandy Smith during the 1995-96 IHL season, the final year of existence for the Moose. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Smith in the 5th round of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, this Brainerd, MN native made his professional debut in 1989-90 with the IHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks. Sandy spent several years with Muskegon before moving on to represent the Salt Lake Golden Eagles, Detroit Vipers and Minnesota Moose. All told this tough guy spent 7 seasons in the IHL, leaving in his wake four triple digit PIMS seasons and a couple of 30+ goal campaigns. Smith completed his career in Europe where he played for four seasons.

The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and consists of numerous stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, stitch pops, heavy inner pilling and in excess of two-dozen team-sewn repairs. Smith put forth his finest professional season while wearing this jersey. In 81 games played he scored 35 goals and added 41 assists for 76 points to go along with 149 PIMS. A hammered example from the final year of existence from this short-lived two-year franchise.
