This road red knit gamer by CCM was worn by Pierre Turgeon during the 1995-96 NHL season. This 19-year veteran was the 1st overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1987 NHL entry draft. He played for 5 seasons in Buffalo before being dealt to the New York Islanders in a deal for Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine. Pierre spent 4 years on the Island before moving about to Montreal, where he would serve as Captain, St. Louis, Dallas and Colorado. In nearly 1300 games played, Pierre tabbed 515 goals and 1327 points. He won the 1992-93 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy awarded to the player who best exhibited sportsmanship and high ability. Achieving the 500-goal plateau and averaging better than a point per game during his career, will undoubtedly land Pierre in the Hall of Fame in the near future.
Proudly sewn to the left breast of this sweater is the Captain’s “C”. Game use consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Turgeon wearing this exact jersey during the 1995-96 NHL season. A striking Captain’s gamer worn by the man who helped close out the Montreal Forum that same season with torch in hand.
