Description
1995-96 Pat Verbeek New York Rangers Game Worn Jersey - 40-Goal Season - All Star Season - Photo Match
Lot #30
This road blue mesh gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by Pat Verbeek during the 1995-96 NHL season. The New Jersey Devils selected Verbeek in the 3rd round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Verbeek began his career with the Devils during their first ever season in 1982-83. He would soon become one of the team’s stars and in 1987-88 Pat helped lead them to their first ever playoff appearance behind a 46-goal and 227 PIM season.

After 7 seasons in New Jersey, Verbeek was dealt to the Hartford Whalers where he toiled with great success and became the team Captain. After 6 years with the Whalers, Verbeek joined the New York Rangers, who acquired him in an attempt to repeat as Stanley Cup champions at the deadline in 1995. Pat added 10 goals in 19 late season games. It was during his only full season in New York, 1995-96, that Verbeek showed his true value on the strength of 41 goals and 129 PIMS in a mere 69 games, good for a selection to the 1996 NHL All Star Game.

Verbeek finally captured the Stanley Cup as a member of the Dallas Stars during the late 1990’s, before spending a couple of season with the Detroit Red Wings. Pat played one final year after leaving Detroit, returning to Dallas in 2001-02. All told, Verbeek tallied 522 goals, 1063 points and 2905 PIMS. Pat tallied better than 40 goals in a season four different times for three different teams. He represented Team Canada in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and partook in a couple of NHL All Star games. He remains to this day the only player in NHL history to have scored better than 500 goals while amassing 2500 PIMS.

The game wear on this 1st set size 50 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, general trauma, a collar loaded with stitch pops and fine inner pilling. On the inside hem is the official New York Rangers game worn jersey and set information. Shown above are a couple of beautiful photo matches of Verbeek wearing this exact jersey during the 1995-96 season. A simply outstanding photo matched offering that was worn by this future Hall of Famer during his last 40-Goal season and one that earned him a selection to his final NHL All Star Game, choice!
