1995-96 Michal Pivonka Detroit Vipers Game Worn Jersey Photo Match
Lot #425
This road purple knit gamer by Bauer was worn by Michal Pivonka during the 1995-96 IHL season. The Washington Capitals selected Pivonka in the 3rd round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. This Czech native made his NHL debut in 1986-87 with the Capitals where he played for his entire 13-year NHL career. Pivonka would spend time during his career centering and adeptly setting up 500-Goal scorer, Peter Bondra. In 825 games played, Michal netted 181 goals and added 418 assists for 599 points.

The sleeves of this gamer have been custom shortened for Pivonka by the team. Michal had a habit of tucking his shortened sleeves beneath his elbow pads. The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, material pulls, hem pilling and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Pivonka wearing this exact jersey during the 1995-96 season. Pivonka spent just 7 games rehabbing with the Vipers before returning to the Capitals and scoring a career best 81 points. During his 7 games down in Detroit, Michal tallied 10 points, went +7 and added 19 PIMS while wearing this sweater. A nice photo matched offering of one of the 90’s more underrated set up men.
