Description
1995-96 Martin Straka Ottawa Senators Game Worn Jersey - "Smitty" - Team Letter
Lot #164
This black knit gamer by CCM was worn by Martin Straka during the 1995-96 NHL season. The Pittsburgh Penguins made Straka their 1st round selection in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. He spent 10 of his 15 NHL seasons as a member of the Penguins, the team with which he is most often associated. During his 954 game career, this talented native of the Czech Republic netted 257 goals and 717 points. On the international scene, Straka partook in 2 World Cups, several World Championships and 2 Olympics that included a Gold Medal during the 1998 Winter Games.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the ‘Smitty’ patch, to commemorate the death of local broadcaster and Ottawa native Brian “Smitty” Smith. The game wear on this size 54 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and nearly 30 team-sewn repairs! A heavily-worn patched example from the early part of Straka’s career. This jersey will be accompanied by a Senators team letter.
