1995-96 Mark Recchi Montreal Canadiens Game Worn Jersey
Lot #100

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mark Recchi during the 1995-96 NHL season. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Recchi in the 4th round of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. Recchi made his NHL debut in 1988-89 as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins where he would soon after team with Mario and company to capture the 1991 Stanley Cup. At the trading deadline of the following season, as the Pens were embarking on their 2nd Stanley Cup run, Recchi was dealt to the Flyers in exchange for Rick Tocchet.

Mark represented Philadelphia for parts of 4 seasons, where he teamed with a young Eric Lindros to form one of the deadliest duos in the sport before heading to the Montreal Canadiens in yet another blockbuster deal. Following five years with Les Habitants, Recchi returned to Philly where he played for another 6 seasons. His next NHL stop took him back to Pittsburgh before a deadline deal in 2006 proved fruitful for the veteran winger, as he captured his 2nd Stanley Cup while on loan to the Carolina Hurricanes. Since leaving the Pens in 2007-08, Recchi played for the Atlanta Thrashers, the Tampa Bay Lightning and finally the Boston Bruins for his last three seasons. In Mark’s final game, he hoisted the Stanley Cup for a 3rd time on his 3rd different team. In a career that spanned 1652 games, Recchi tallied 1533 points and lit the lamp a resounding 577 times. Recchi ranks 6th all time in NHL games played. He played in 7 NHL All Star Games and was named 2nd Team NHL All Star at Right Wing in 1992. Recchi was deservingly inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame with the class of 2017.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this size 56 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, familiar board paint transfer from the old Montreal Forum, a salted fight strap and inner pilling. On the right breast is a beautiful and somewhat faded signature in Recchi’s own hand. The 1995-96 season was Recchi’s first full year in Montreal. He responded with a solid 78-point regular season campaign before adding another point per game during the 1995-96 playoffs. A beautiful example that sports the coveted letter of honor and was worn during this Hall of Famer’s first full year with Les Habitants.
