1995-96 Ken Gernander AHL All Star Game Worn Jersey – “60-year AHL Anniversary” - Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award
Lot #992

This white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Ken Gernander during the 1995-96 AHL All Star Game. The Winnipeg Jets selected Gernander in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. This Minnesota native spent 4 seasons playing college hockey at the University of Minnesota before beginning his professional career in 1991. Ken spent several seasons with the NHL’s New York Rangers during what was a 14-year playing career. He spent most of the remainder of his career in the AHL. In 1994-95 he joined the Rangers organization and began playing for Binghamton. He would spend the next 11 years as part of the organization and when not in the NHL, he suited up for the Rangers AHL affiliates first in Binghamton and then as a member of the Hartford Wolfpack. Since leaving the playing ranks, this fan favorite has become the long standing Head Coach of the franchise. Gernander was inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame in 2013.

Sewn to the lower verso is the AHL’s 60-year anniversary patch. Sewn to the right breast is the sponsorship patch. The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of a fair number of stick and slash marks and inner pilling. On the inside crest is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Gernander’s own hand. On the inside hem is the official AHL game worn jersey and set stamp. Gernander struck for a career best 44 Goals in 63 games and won the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award during the 1995-96 AHL season, which jump-started his Hall of Fame career.
