1995-96 Denis Savard Chicago Blackhawks Game Worn Jersey - The Chris Chelios Collection Chris Chelios Letter
Lot #414

GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to present The Chris Chelios Collection. This exciting collection of game worn jerseys, game used sticks and memorabilia comes directly from the personal collection of 3-time Norris Trophy winner and Hall of Famer Chris Chelios. Chelios personally collected these items over the course of his Hall of Fame career. Each has been in Mr. Chelios’ personal collection since leaving the ice and all are fresh to the hobby. A signed letter from Chris Chelios will accompany your purchase.

This home white air-knit gamer by Nike was worn by Denis Savard during the 1995-96 NHL season. The Chicago Blackhawks selected Savard with the 3rd overall pick in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. Savard carved out his legend with the Blackhawks where he showcased his immense talent during 13 of his 17 NHL seasons. Denis spent his first 10 seasons in Chicago before playing for 3 years in Montreal where he won his only Stanley Cup in 1993. Savard next spent parts of two seasons with the expansion Tampa Bay Lightning before returning home to Chicago where he finished his career in 1997 with the Blackhawks.

Savard, who was known for his patented “spin-o-rama” move, scored 473 goals and added 865 assists for 1338 points to go along with a feisty 1336 PIMS in 1196 games played. His playoff acumen was no less impressive, lighting the lamp 66 times and adding 109 helpers for 175 playoff points to go along with 256 PIMS in 169 games played. Denis is the 3rd highest scorer in Chicago Blackhawks history, trailing only Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita.

The game wear on this size 52 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer and inner pilling. The careers of Savard and Chelios will forever be intertwined. The blockbuster trade that took place in the summer of 1990 between Chicago and Montreal was a straight up exchange of these two Hall of Fame legends. It wasn’t until the spring of 1995 that Denis and Chris became teammates, spending 3 seasons together on the Blackhawks. A nice example from the brief period in the mid 1990’s that Chelios and Savard shared the ice together, which comes directly from The Chris Chelios Collection.
