1995-96 Dave Christian Minnesota Moose Game Issued Jersey – “50-year Anniversary – Team Letter
Lot #282
This road black knit jersey by Bauer was issued for use by Dave Christian during the 1995-96 IHL season. The Winnipeg Jets selected Christian in the 2nd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. After playing a couple of seasons of college hockey for the Fighting Sioux at the University of North Dakota, Christian spent the 1979-80 season with Team USA under the guidance of coach Herb Brooks. This native of Warroad, MN was one of the Minnesota boys that Herb Brooks would come to rely heavily upon as the 1980 Olympics took shape. In 7 Olympic games, Christian chipped in 8 points as team USA literally performed a Miracle on Ice, defeating the heavily favored Russians and then capturing the gold medal against Finland.
After winning gold, Dave immediately began his NHL career in style as he set an NHL record for scoring the fastest goal in his first NHL game, taking just 7 seconds to impress the Winnipeg Jets where he tabbed 18 points in 15 games during the 1979-80 season.

Christian went on to have a most impressive 15-year NHL career, notching 340 goals and 773 points for the Jets, Capitals Bruins, Blues and Blackhawks before hanging up the skates for good in the mid 1990’s. Dave is a member of the 40-goal club and was also an NHL All Star selection in 1991 as a member of the Boston Bruins. In addition to the 1980 Olympics, Christian played 59 games for the US National team in 1980, which led up to the Olympics and also represented Team USA during the 1981, 1984 and 1991 Canada Cups. Christian was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.

Sewn to the right breast of this jersey is the IHL’s 50-year anniversary patch. This size 52 sweater was prepared for use by Christian but never made it into game action. The 1995-96 season was the last of this Warroad, MN native’s career.
