Description
1995-96 Andrei Kovalenko Montreal Canadiens Game Worn Jersey
Lot #132

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Andrei Kovalenko during the 1995-96 NHL season. The Quebec Nordiques selected Kovalenko in the 8th round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. After beginning his career with 6 seasons in the Soviet Union, this Russian native made his NHL debut with the Nordiques in 1992-93. Andrei spent three seasons with Quebec and then transferred with the club to Colorado, where he soon after became part of the blockbuster deal to acquire Patrick Roy from Montreal. All told this winger spent 9 seasons in the NHL before returning to Russia where he played for another 7 years, retiring following the 2007-08 campaign.

The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, plenty of familiar board paint transfer from the Montreal Forum, un-repaired burn holes, fine pilling and some significant team-sewn repair work. Kovalenko spent 51 games as a member of the Canadiens while wearing this sweater on home ice during the Montreal Forum’s last season. Andrei netted 17 goals and added 17 assists for 34 points to aid in Montreal’s final push to the playoffs in front of the Forum faithful.
