1994-95 John Leclair Philadelphia Flyers Game Worn Jersey - 1st Team NHL All Star - Photo Match
Lot #89

This road orange air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by John Leclair during the 1994-95 NHL season. The Montreal Canadiens selected Leclair in the 2nd round of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. With better than 400 goals to his credit, Leclair clearly established himself as one of the best power forwards of the 1990’s. Leclair, who is a St. Albans, Vermont native, graduated from the University of Vermont in 1991 and began his NHL career with the Canadiens in 1990-91. During his second full season in the league, John’s timely playoff scoring helped lead the underdog Canadiens to the 1993 Stanley Cup championship. John partook in numerous NHL All Star games and was 5-times a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star at Left Wing. After his trade to Philadelphia in 1994, Leclair formed a terrorizing duo on the Legion of Doom alongside Eric Lindros for much of the remainder of the 1990’s, wreaking havoc on opponents. He tabbed 50 goals in 3 consecutive seasons and followed those up with a couple of 40-goal years before a back injury took its toll. John joined the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2005-06 and played two final seasons before retiring in 2007. Leclair represented Team USA in the 1996 World Cup of hockey, where he was voted a World Cup All Star, as well as in the Olympics. Also to his credit are 2 Bud Ice Plus/Minus awards

The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, heavy inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn reapirs. Shown above are some beautiful photo matches of Leclair wearing this exact jersey during the 1994-95 season. The 1994-95 strike shortened season was John’s first in Philadelphia. He was brilliant, finding instant chemistry with Eric Lindros and the Legion of Doom as he lit the lamp 25 times and added 24 assists for 49 points with a +20 in just 37 games played, earning himself 1st Team NHL All Star honors! This well-worn photo matched offering is perhaps the nicest Leclair gamer we’ve had the pleasure to offer.
