1994-95 Joey Kocur New York Rangers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #34

This road blue mesh gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by Joe Kocur during the 1994-95 NHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Kocur in the 5th round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. This Kelvington, SASK native made his NHL debut in 1984-85 with Detroit, playing a partial 17-game season as a rookie. The following year saw Joey dress for 59 games and he made the league take notice, racking up a career best 377 PIMS! And on it went, year after year with PIMS totals in the mid to high 200’s during the remainder of his tenure in the Motor City. In 1991, the Red Wings dealt Kocur to the New York Rangers where he would spend the next five years. He did temper the bad boy act a bit on Broadway and was part of the Rangers Stanley Cup winning team in 1994. Following his time in New York, Kocur played briefly for Vancouver before returning to Detroit where he played his final three seasons. In 821 career games over 15 NHL seasons, Kocur racked up an impressive 2519 PIMS! This places Joey top-20 of all-time. He will long be remembered as one of the fiercest fighters of his generation.

The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, washed out bloodstains and inner pilling. On the base of the fight strap is the Cosby logo. On the verso of the CCM collar tag is the notation Flately. Flatley became a Ranger following Kocur’s departure from the team and assumed Joe’s player number 26. This is the second such mid 1990’s era Kocur gamer that we’ve handled that we’ve seen this notation on. We surmise that the Rangers intended at some point on recycling this jersey for Flatley but never did as the sweater remains in its original game worn condition by Kocur.
