1994-95 Joe Murphy Chicago Blackhawks Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #67

This road red air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Joe Murphy during the 1994-95 NHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Murphy with the 1st overall pick in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at Michigan State University and leading them to an NCAA Division 1 Championship, Murphy joined the Red Wings and began his NHL career in 1986-87. After parts of 4 years in Detroit, Murphy was dealt to the Edmonton Oilers in 1989-90 and preceded to win a Stanley Cup later that spring. Joe spent three years with the Oilers before beginning a 4-year stint with the Chicago Blackhawks. Murphy finished up his career with time in St. Louis, San Jose, Boston and Washington. Murphy was a 30-Goal scorer for both the Oilers and Blackhawks during his career.

The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and several team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Murphy wearing this exact jersey during the 1994-95 season. The strike-shortened season of 1994-95 saw Murphy score 23 goals and add 18 assists for 41 points to go along with 89 PIMS in 40 games played while wearing this jersey during road contests. A well-worn photo matched example from the prime of Murphy’s career.
