1994-95 Darren McCarty Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup Finals Game Worn Jersey - "1995 Stanley Cup Finals" - Video Match
Lot #33

This home white air-knit gamer by CCM and Eastside was worn by Darren McCarty during the 1994-95 Stanley Cup Finals. The Detroit Red Wings selected McCarty in the 2nd round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. He began a 15-year NHL career with the Red Wings in 1993-94. Darren would represent the Motor City for 13 of his 15 years of NHL service, during which time he appeared in 5 Stanley Cup Finals and walked away victorious 4 times. Always a willing combatant, this grinder averaged about 2 PIMS per game over the course of his career having accumulated 1477 PIMS in 758 regular season games.

The 1995 Stanley Cup Finals marked the first time in 3 decades that the Red Wings had been a participant with a chance at capturing hockey’s ultimate prize. Not since the days of Gordie Howe and company had Detroit managed a trip to the Finals. Offered here is Darren McCarty’s home sweater from the 1995 Finals, the first trip for the Wings during the Steve Yzerman era. The 1995 Finals would serve as an important building block for the team that would go on to dominate the sport in the years ahead, winning 4 Stanley Cups before the Yzerman era was over.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the 1995 Stanley Cup Finals patch. Sewn perfectly into the collar of this gamer is the East Side tag. The sleeves on this jersey have been customized with panels added to give McCarty more wrist and lower arm room. The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, numerous board burns and un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, pulls and pilling. Shown above are some amazing video matches of McCarty wearing this exact jersey during the 1995 Stanley Cup Finals. The 1995 Stanley Cup Finals marked the first time that the Wings donned a Finals patch on their jerseys and have become increasingly more popular with collectors. A challenging and important style, worn by one of the few core members of the Wings that played in all 5 Stanley Cups in the modern era, choice!
