This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Vladimir Malakhov during the 1993-94 NHL season. The New York Islanders selected Vlad in the 10th round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Following a distinguished career in Russia, Malakhov began his NHL career with the Isles during their storybook 1992-93 season that saw them dispatch of the 2-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Penguins in the QF’s. All told Vlad spent 13 seasons roaming the NHL blue lines while representing the likes of the Islanders, Rangers, Devils, Flyers and Canadiens. Malakhov won a Stanley Cup with the Devils in 1999-00. He represented Russia in the 1991 Canada Cup, the 1996 World Cup as well as the 1992 and the 2002 Olympics.
The game wear on this size 54 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and fight abuse. The rear collar has been torn and repaired, the front collar has been ripped down to the crest and repaired and further repair work exists towards the right side of the collar extending towards the shoulder. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Malakhov wearing this exact jersey during the 1993-94 season. On the inside hem is the official New York Islanders game worn jersey and set information. A terrific well-worn photo matched example from Vlad’s sophomore season.
