Description
1993-94 Pierre Turgeon Islanders Game Worn Jersey
Lot #60

This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Pierre Turgeon during the 1993-94 NHL season. This 19-year veteran was the 1st overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1987 NHL entry draft. He played for 5 seasons in Buffalo before being dealt to the New York Islanders in a deal for Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine. Pierre spent 4 years on the Island before moving about to Montreal, where he would serve as Captain, St. Louis, Dallas and Colorado. In nearly 1300 games played, Pierre tabbed 515 goals and 1327 points. He won the 1992-93 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy awarded to the player who best exhibited sportsmanship and high ability. Achieving the 500-goal plateau and averaging better than a point per game during his career, will undoubtedly land Pierre in the Hall of Fame in the near future.

This well worn example was donned by Turgeon during the season that followed the infamous cheap shot dealt by Dale Hunter during the 1993 playoffs which may have cost Turgeon and his Islanders a Stanley Cup title. Solid game use on this set 1 sweater includes loads of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and heavy inner pilling. Pierre was limited to 69 contests during the 1993-94 campaign during which time he tabbed a most impressive 38 goals and 94 points. On the inner hem is the official New York Islanders game worn jersey identification.
