1993-94 Markus Naslund Cleveland Lumberjacks Game Worn Jersey Rookie
Lot #1021

This white knit gamer by Bauer was worn by Markus Naslund during the 1993-94 IHL season, his rookie year. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Naslund in the 1st round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. This Swedish native began his career in Pittsburgh in 1993-94, playing alongside the likes of Lemieux and Jagr before a deadline deal in 1995-96 sent him packing to Vancouver. Markus made his home in the Great Northwest for a dozen seasons before taking his final act to Broadway in 2008-09, after which he announced his retirement. Upon leaving Vancouver he was the team’s all-time leader in goals and points.

To his credit are 395 goals and 869 points to go along with a handful of NHL All Star game appearances. The 2002-03 NHL season was a special one for Naslund. He netted career highs in goals with 48, assists with 56 and points with 104. In recognition of that fine season, Naslund won the Lester B. Pearson Trophy that is awarded to the NHL’s outstanding player and was a finalist for the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s MVP. Markus was named 1st Team NHL All Star at Left Wing in 3 consecutive seasons from 2002-04. On the international stage, Naslund represented Team Sweden in numerous World Championships, the World Cup of Hockey twice and the Olympics.

The game wear on this size 52 sweater is light as would be expected as Naslund played a total of 5 games as a rookie in Cleveland, scoring a goal and 6 assists for 7 points before joining the Pittsburgh Penguins. Removed from the back is the player nameplate. The outline of “NASLUND” remains clearly legible on the upper verso. A nice rookie sweater from this decorated NHL All Star’s brief minor league career.
