1993-94 Chris Pronger Hartford Whalers Game Worn Jersey - Rookie - Photo Match
Lot #12

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Chris Pronger during the 1993-94 NHL season. Pronger is in the midst of a Hall of Fame career that began in 1993 when Hartford made him the 2nd overall selection in the NHL Entry Draft that year. Chris spent 2 seasons on the Whalers blueline before a blockbuster deal sent him to St. Louis in exchange for Brendan Shanahan. Pronger next spent 9 seasons honing his craft in St. Louis before joining Edmonton for a year. He then spent 3 seasons with Anaheim and most recently can be found delivering bone crunching hits for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Pronger’s additions to Edmonton, Anaheim and Philadelphia all saw his teams make it to the Stanley Cup Finals in his first year of service in his new digs, quite a statement to the worth of this 6’ 6” defenseman. It would then come as no surprise that Pronger has won the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman, the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player along with a couple of plus/minus awards and a Stanley Cup. Chris is a 4-time 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star and has played in a handful of NHL All Star games. No stranger to the international stage, Pronger has represented Team Canada in 4 different Olympics!

Pronger’s time in Hartford was brief, having spent only 2 seasons with the team, the 2nd of those being the strike shortened campaign of 1994-95. Needless to say, his game jerseys from his time in Hartford are tough to find and immensely popular among collectors.

This stunning rookie sweater shows solid game wear; it is littered with stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, a well-salted fight strap and fine inner pilling. Shown above are a couple of beautiful photo matches of Pronger wearing this exact jersey during his rookie season. After being drafted 2nd overall, Pronger joined the Whalers lineup and had an immediate impact. He played ‘Pronger style hockey’ earning all-rookie honors and racking up 30-points and 113 PIMS in 81 games of play as a rookie. Offered here is Pronger’s set 1 rookie gamer, complete with fantastic game wear and a couple of beautiful photo matches; Good Luck!
