1993-94 Chris Pronger Hartford Whalers Game Worn Jersey Rookie
Lot #12

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Chris Pronger during the 1993-94 NHL season, his rookie year. The Hartford Whalers selected Pronger with the 2nd overall pick in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. This Dryden, ONT native made his NHL debut in 1993-94 with the Whalers where he played for two seasons before being dealt to the St. Louis Blues in a blockbuster deal in exchange for Brendan Shanahan. Chris spent 9 seasons honing his craft in St. Louis before joining Edmonton for a single year. Pronger next spent three seasons with Anaheim and then completed his career delivering bone-crunching hits for the Philadelphia Flyers before being forced into premature retirement due to post-concussion syndrome.

Pronger’s timely additions to Edmonton, Anaheim and Philadelphia all saw those teams make it to the Stanley Cup Finals in his first year of service, quite a statement. It would then come as no surprise that Pronger won the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman, the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player along with a couple of plus/minus awards and the ultimate trophy, the Stanley Cup. Chris was a four-time 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star who played in a handful of NHL All Star Games. No stranger to the international stage, Pronger represented Team Canada in four different Olympics! Considered one of the finest defensemen of his era, Pronger was voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on his first ballot.

The game wear on this 2nd set size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and fine inner pilling. On the inside hem is the official Hartford Whalers game worn jersey and set stamp. A beautiful well-worn example hailing from the second half of this Hall of Famer’s rookie season, choice!
