1992-93 Stu Kulak Erie Panthers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #485

This road black sheen gamer by HiLi was worn by Stu Kulak during the 1992-93 ECHL season. The Vancouver Canucks selected Kulak in the 6th round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. He spent parts of 2 years with the Canucks before joining the Oilers dynasty during the 1986-87 season. Late that year he was dealt to the Rangers and played for them in 3 games. He next suited up for the Quebec Nordiques in 1987-88 and then finally the Winnipeg Jets in 1988-89. Around and after his NHL time, Kulak enjoyed a lengthy, nearly 2 decade long minor pro career. He finally retired from hockey following the 1999-00 season.

Kulak spent 21 games with the Erie Panthers in 1992-93, his only year in the ECHL. Offered here is his road gamer from that season. The alternate Captain’s “A” resides in part on the left breast after having been poorly removed by the team. Custom elastic inserts have been added to both sleeves at the wrist to widen them. This customization was presumably done for Bob “The Hammer” Fleming who wore this sweater during the 1991-92 season. Fleming’s claim to fame is having been on the losing end of a couple of fights with Stu “The Grim Reaper” Grimson during that 1991-92 season.

David Pergola originally wore the player number 11 in 1992-93 along with the “A”. Pergola left early during the season and when the jersey was given to Kulak they removed the “A” and made a nameplate change. The game wear on this size XL sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, pilling and team-sewn repairwork. A nice looking sheen style gamer, worn by this former NHLer during his brief time in Erie.
