This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Oleg Petrov during the 1992-93 NHL pre-season. The Montreal Canadiens drafted Petrov in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. After playing in his native Moscow for 3 seasons, Petrov joined the Canadiens as a rookie in 1992-93. Oleg’s NHL career lasted 8 seasons. He spent all of of them with Montreal and played part of his final season with the Nashville Predators. After 4 years in the leagu,e Petrov bolted the NHL to spend 3 seasons in the Swiss-A league. He then returned and played his final 4 NHL seasons before returning to Switzerland where he played for the next 5 years. In 2007-08 Petrov returned to his native Russia and has spent the past few years playing in the KHL.
Sewn to the right breast of this rookie gamer is the 44th NHL All Star game patch, signifying the last time this prestigious event was held at the Montreal Forum. The All Star patch is sewn on top of a large swatch of white knit material that was sewn to this gamer to cover the NHL’s 75-year anniversary patch, which still lies beneath. Despite the Canadiens best dry cleaning efforts, game wear remains easily recognizable on this sweater. There are stick and slash marks, board burns, some of that recognizable board paint transfer from the boards of the old Montreal Forum, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, heavy inner pilling and four team-sewn repairs. A fantastic looking example, complete with the coveted Montreal All Star game patch that was worn by a then rookie Petrov, during the 1992-93 Stanley Cup winning season!
