Description
1992-93 Mike Stapleton Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey
Lot #116

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mike Stapleton during the 1992-93 NHL season. The Chicago Blackhawks selected Stapleton in the 7th round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. After playing with the Canadian National Team, Mike suited up for the Blackhawks for 5 years before joining the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1992-93. Stapleton would later go on to represent the Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Atlanta Thrashers, New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks and St. Louis Blues before finishing out his playing days in Europe. All told, this center skated on NHL ice over the course of 16 seasons.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 100-year Stanley Cup anniversary patch. The game wear on this size 50 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn repairs. A well-worn Stanley Cup anniversary example from a year that saw the Penguins fall shy in their attempt at a three-peat.
