1992-93 Mario Roberge Montreal Canadiens Game Worn Jersey – “1993 Stanley Cup Finals” – Stanley Cup Season – Mario Roberge Letter
Lot #49

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mario Roberge during the playoffs of the Canadiens 1992-93 Stanley Cup winning season. Roberge, who hails from Quebec City, literally fought his way into the NHL. He broke in with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL back in 1981-82 and following four years of junior hockey, Mario spent years brawling in the minors before earning his way to the big show. Roberge made his NHL debut in 1990-91 with the Montreal Canadiens where he played for his entire five-year NHL career. The highlight of this tough guy’s career was winning the 1993 Stanley Cup. Always quick to drop his gloves, Mario racked up about 3 PIMS per game over the course of his NHL career. His single season best total of 385 PIMS came in 1990-91 as he shared time between Fredericton and Montreal. Following his last season with the Canadiens, Mario spent another 7 seasons in the minors slugging it out with the best of them.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the French version of the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals patch. Sewn beneath is the NHL’s 100-year Stanley Cup anniversary patch. The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer from the Montreal Forum, washed out bloodstains and inner pilling. Mario did in fact wear this jersey on home ice at the Montreal Forum during the Canadiens’ improbable playoff run that included 10 straight overtime victories on their way to a record 24th Stanley Cup Championship, however he did not skate in the Finals. Originally sourced from Mario’s personal collection, a signed letter from Mr. Roberge will accompany your purchase.
