1992-93 John Ogrodnick Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #112

This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by John Ogrodnick during the 1992-93 NHL season, his last year in the league. The Detroit Red Wings selected Ogrodnick in the 4th round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. Ogrodnick began his career with the Wings in 1979-80. In the midst of his 8th year with Detroit, John was dealt to the Quebec Nordiques where he played for just half a season. Ogrodnick next spent 5 years with the New York Rangers before a final season in 1992-93 with the Red Wings. All told John spent 14 years patrolling the right wing. In 928 games, he tabbed 402 goals and 827 points. His career best season came in 1984-85, when he netted 55 goals and 105 points for Detroit and earned a 1st Team NHL All Star selection in the process. Thanks in part to his four 40+ goal seasons, John played in 5 NHL All Star games in representation of Detroit spanning 1981-86.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 100-year Stanley Cup anniversary patch. The game wear on this size 52 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, pulls and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Ogrodnick wearing this exact jersey during the 1992-93 season. On the inside hem is the official Detroit Red Wings game worn jersey stamp. Ogrodnick played in just 19 games for the Wings during this, his final NHL season. A terrific patched and photo matched offering worn by this former 50-goal scoring All Star and of one of Detroit’s finest.
