1992-93 Jaromir Jagr Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #4

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Jaromir Jagr during the 1992-93 NHL season, his 3rd year in the league. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Jagr with the 5th overall pick in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. Jagr was an instant force, earning a place on the all-rookie team and winning the Stanley Cup in each of his first two seasons in the league. Jaromir amassed an impressive array of hardware during his storied career, which includes five Art Ross Trophies as the NHL’s leading scorer, three Lester B. Pearson trophies as the NHL’s outstanding player along with the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player in 1998-99. His career totals are staggering. Jagr scored 766 goals (3rd all-time), 1155 assists (5th all-time) and 1921 points (2nd all-time) in 1733 career regular season games played, this despite playing in the KHL for 3 seasons. Jaromir’s career playoff totals are equally as impressive with 201 playoff points to his credit. His 24-year NHL career saw Jaromir earn seven 1st and one 2nd Team NHL All Star selections. He played in 10 NHL All Star games, a Canada Cup, 2 World Cups of Hockey and 4 Olympics! He is regarded as one of the game's all-time greats and will be enshrined in Hockey’s Hall of Fame on his 1st ballot of eligibility.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 100-year Stanley Cup anniversary patch. The game wear on this size 52 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and trauma, washed out bloodstains, stitch pops, material pulls, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, fine inner pilling and more than a couple of handfuls of team-sewn repairs. Penned in faded black sharpie on the collar tag is Jaromir’s player number 68. Shown above are some beautiful photo matches of Jagr wearing this exact jersey during the 1992-93 season. The 1992-93 season was Jagr’s 3rd year in the league and was also his breakout season. The 2-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Penguins were in need of a boost as their Captain, Mario Lemieux, was battling Hodgkin’s disease causing him to miss a good portion of the season. Jagr stepped up, netting 34 goals and adding 60 assists for 94 points as he emerged into one of the league’s true superstars while wearing this jersey. A tremendous early career battle scarred patched and photo matched example that was worn extensively by the man who ranks as the NHL’s 2nd all-time leading scorer, choice!
