This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Igor Korolev during the 1992-93 NHL season, his rookie year. The St. Louis Blues selected Korolev in the 2nd round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. After spending a handful of years playing in his native Moscow, Korolev joined the NHL ranks for the start of the 1992-93 season. Igor spent 2 seasons with the Blues before joining the Winnipeg Jets where he remained with the franchise for a few seasons. Korolev next spent 4 years with the Toronto Maple Leafs before finishing his NHL career with a few seasons playing for the Chicago Blackhawks. Following the 2003-04 season, Korolev returned to Russia and spent the next 6 years playing there before retiring following the 2009-10 season. Igor then took a coaching job with his last professional team in the KHL, Yaroslavl Lokomotiv. Tragically, Korolev and his KHL team lost their lives in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl air disaster in September 2011 as the team was flying to Minsk on their way to play the seasons opening game.
Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 100-year Stanley Cup anniversary patch. The game wear on this size 52 sweater is solid and consists of numerous stick and slash marks, board burns, loads of un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust and fine inner pilling. Shown above are a number of beautiful photo matches of Korolev wearing this exact jersey during his rookie season. On the inside hem is the official St. Louis Blues game worn jersey and set information. Found alongside is the BlueNote Authentics Hologram. A tremendous well worn and photo matched rookie jersey from a player who tragically lost his life in the KHL plane crash.
