This road black air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Gary Shuchuk during the 1992-93 NHL season and thru the Stanley Cup Finals. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Shuchuk began his NHL career in 1990-91 with the Detroit Red Wings. After a season with Detroit, Shuchuk joined the LA Kings where he would go on to spend the remainder of his NHL career, 4 seasons in all. Shuchuk joined the Kings during the latter part of the 1992-93 campaign, playing in 25 regular season games and then partaking in another 17 playoff contests as the Kings made their first ever trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. Offered here is Gary’s road sweater from that memorable playoff run.
Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals patch, this patch has been sewn atop the NHL’s 100-year Stanley Cup anniversary patch. The game wear on this size 52 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, a heavily salted fight strap, inner pilling and a handful of classic LA Kings team-sewn repairs. Shown above is video footage of Shuchuk scoring the double overtime game-winning goal against the Vancouver Canucks in the critical 5th game of the Smythe Division Finals, thus giving the Kings a 3-2 lead while wearing this exact jersey! This was incidentally the longest game in LA Kings history! On the inside hem is the official LA Kings game worn jersey tagging, which includes the initials of the team trainer. A historic video matched offering that deserves a spot on any LA Kings Wall of Fame, choice!
