This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Eric Lindros during the 1992-93 NHL season, his rookie year. Lindros entered the NHL with perhaps as much fanfare as any player in league history. Drafted by Quebec 1st overall in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, Eric refused to play in French Canada and forced the Nordiques into making a draft-day deal. The Philadelphia Flyers paid a kings ransom, which included Peter Forsberg, to land this giant talent. He began his career with the Flyers in 1992-93 and took the City of Brotherly Love on his back as hockey took center stage once again in Philadelphia. In only his 3rd year of play, Eric won the Hart Memorial Trophy as NHL MVP and the Lester B Pearson Trophy as the NHL’s outstanding player. Eric put up gaudy numbers as the leader of the Legion of Doom throughout the 1990’s and led the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1997. Unfortunately for Flyers fans, his 26 points in 19 playoff games weren’t enough to defeat the eventual champions from the Motor City. Playing such a rough and tumble style had serious consequences for Lindros. He missed parts of virtually every season due to injury, the most serious of which were a series of concussions. After sitting out the entire 2000-01 season, Lindros resumed his career with the Rangers with whom he played for 3 years. A year each in Toronto and Dallas followed before retirement became necessary, putting an end to an exciting career.
In a career filled with what ifs, Lindros played for 13 years in a scant 760 games. During that time he scored 372 goals and 865 points. His 1398 PIMS do not do justice to the rugged style of hockey he played, as he literally ran roughshot over the opposition. Lindros also left his mark on the international world stage, representing Team Canada in the World Championships, the 1991 Canada Cup, the inaugural 1996 World Cup of Hockey and 3 Olympics!
Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 100-year Stanley Cup anniversary patch. The sleeves on this jersey have been custom shortened by the Flyers for Lindros. The game wear on this size 56 sweater consists of a good many stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains and inner pilling. Penned in black sharpie on the collar tag is Lindros’ “88”. On the inside crest are the black sharpie signatures of Lindros and the Flyers equipment man with the further designation “92-93”. Lindros appeared in 61 games as a rookie in 1992-93, lighting the lamp 41 times while adding 34 assists for a robust 75 points to go along with 147 PIMS while wearing this jersey on home ice at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. As Lindros gains traction in his bid for the Hockey Hall of Fame, this outstanding customized rookie jersey, which sports the NHL’s 100-year Stanley Cup anniversary patch and was worn during Eric’s rookie season, will no doubt grow in even higher esteem and importance amongst the hobby, choice!
