This Original 6 red knit Turn Back the Clock gamer by CCM was worn by Todd Ewen during the 1991-92 NHL season. The Edmonton Oilers selected Ewen in the 8th round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. This enforcer made his NHL debut with the St. Louis Blues in 1986-87. Ewen called St. Louis home for parts of 4 seasons before joining the Montreal Canadiens during the 1989-90 campaign. Todd spent 4 years with Les Habitants, 3 more with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and one final season with the San Jose Sharks. Ewen tabbed a single season best total of 285 PIMS in 53 games for Anaheim in 1995-96. Over the course of his 11-year NHL career, Ewen played in 518 games and amassed 1911 PIMS! Sadly, Ewen, who suffered from depression took his own life in 2015 at the age of 49.
Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 75-year anniversary patch. The Canadiens participated in the NHL’s Turn Back the Clock program and sparingly wore these Original 6 styled sweaters during the NHL’s 75th anniversary season. The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. A terrific example of a coveted style that was worn by one of the top enforcers of yesteryear.
