This white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Sandy McCarthy during the 1991-92 QMJHL season. The Calgary Flames selected McCarthy in the 3rd round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. This legendary enforcer played his junior hockey with the Laval Titans and spent a season with the IHL’s Salt Lake Golden Eagles before making his NHL debut with Calgary in 1993-94. Sandy spent 5 seasons with the Flames before representing the Lightning, Flyers, Hurricanes, Rangers and Bruins. McCarthy’s career spanned 736 games over the course of 11 seasons that saw him rack up 1534 PIMS while standing toe to toe with every heavyweight willing to take him on.
Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this size 54 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, general filth, fight abuse, washed out bloodstains, stitch pops, a fight strap that has lost the battle to trauma, salt and rust, heavy collar pilling, heavy inner pilling and team-sewn repair work. McCarthy was spectacular while wearing this jersey during his final year of juniors. In 70 games played between the regular season and playoffs, Sandy did his best impression of a dominant power forward and scored 43 goals while adding 56 assists for 99 points to go along with a career best 407 PIMS while wearing this sweater! Laval Titans gamers have proven fairly tough, with this being the first example we’ve had the pleasure to bring to the block. A spectacular offering, complete with letter of honor and worn by this legendary enforcer during his final year in the QMJHL!
