Description
1991-92 Ray Ferraro New York Islanders Pre-Season Game Worn Jersey - All Star Season - 40-Goal Season
Lot #84
This white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Ray Ferraro during the 1991-92 NHL pre-season. The Hartford Whalers selected Ferraro in the 5th round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Ferraro began his NHL career with the Whalers in 1984-85 and remained with the Whalers for 7 seasons until a deal sent him to the New York Islanders during the 1990-91 season. After 5 years on the Island, Ferraro joined the cross-town rival Rangers for a season, spent parts of 4 more with the Kings, parts of 3 with the Thrashers with a final 15 games in St. Louis in 2001-02. Over the course of 18 NHL seasons, Ferraro played in 1258 games while scoring 408 goals and 898 points. He twice netted 40-goals in a season, once with the Hartford Whalers and once more with the New York Islanders where he was named to the NHL All Star team in 1991-92.

The game wear on this size 54 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, trauma to the rear right side hem and inner pilling. A nameplate change is also worthy of mention; this sweater was previously worn by defenseman Marc Bergevin during his brief time with the Islanders in 1989. Ray wore the player number 33 upon arriving to New York in 1990-91 and wore that number into the 1991-92 pre-season before switching to number 20 for the regular season. Ferraro went on to earn All Star status as he put forth 40-Goals and a career best 80-Points during that memorable 1991-92 season.
