1991-92 James Patrick New York Rangers Turn Back The Clock Game Worn Jersey - 71 Point Season - Photo Match
Lot #635

This blue knit “TBTC” gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by James Patrick during the 1991-92 NHL season. The New York Rangers selected Patrick with the 9th overall pick in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his 2 seasons of college hockey for the Fighting Sioux at the University of North Dakota, Patrick spent a year with the Canadian National Team. He then began his NHL career with the Rangers, an era that spanned 1983-84 thru the early part of the 1993-94 season. James next suited up briefly for the Whalers before a deal sent him to Calgary where he played for the next 5 years. His final stop was Buffalo, where Patrick spent 6 seasons. All told this defenseman spent 21 years roaming the NHL’s bluelines. During his tenure with the Rangers, Patrick thrilled the Garden faithful with his adept skills from the point on the power play, as he rung up double-digit goal totals in 7 consecutive seasons. His career best of 71 points came in the 1991-92 campaign as the Rangers captured the President’s Trophy to the delight of their fans. Patrick also represented Team Canada in the 1984 Olympics and during the thrilling 1987 Canada Cup.

The 1991-92 season saw each of the original 6 teams sparingly wear their Turn Back The Clock styled jerseys as the NHL celebrated its 75th anniversary. This beautiful style is a throwback to the NY Rangers 1940 Stanley Cup winning season. According to the Rangers, they produced only one set of TBTC jerseys, meaning that this example was the only one that Patrick wore during that memorable President’s Trophy winning season.

Sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 75-year anniversary patch. The game wear on this Turn Back The Clock set size 50 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, trauma, inner pilling and nearly two handfuls of team-sewn repairs including a gaudy repair on the front hem and a massive sew job on the left sleeve. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Patrick wearing this exact jersey during the 1991-92 season. A beautiful well-worn photo matched example hailing from the ever-desirable quarter century old TBTC set and worn during Patrick’s career best 71-point season that helped propel the Rangers to the President’s Trophy.
