1991-92 Chad Erickson New Jersey Devils Game Worn Jersey – Rookie – “10-year Anniversary – Retired Number
Lot #67

This white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Chad Erickson during the 1991-92 NHL season. The New Jersey Devils selected Erickson in the 7th round of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, this Minneapolis native made his NHL debut in 1991-92 with the Devils. Erickson played in a total of two games that season with the Devils which encompassed the entirety of his NHL career. When Martin Brodeur was called up to the Devils, he sat on the bench and watched Erickson win his only NHL game, a 4-3 home victory against San Jose. Brodeur was wearing #29 because Erickson was already wearing Marty’s preferred #30. Brodeur debuted two days later and Chad never played another NHL game. Erickson was the last Devils player to wear the now retired #30, prior to Martin Brodeur.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 75-year anniversary patch. Sewn to the rear hem is the New Jersey Devils 10-year anniversary patch. The game wear on this size 52 Goalie cut sweater consists of stick and puck marks, goal post and crossbar paint transfer and pilling. A near impossible get for the Devils completist or vintage Goalie collector. A beautiful multi-patched offering of the last #30 in New Jersey Devils history prior to the legendary Martin Brodeur.
