1990 Vasily Pervukhin Japan National Championships Gold Medal

This 1990 gold medal was won by Vasily Pervukhin while coaching at the National Championships of Japan in 1990 after his playing days were over. Pervukhin was a Soviet Union  defenseman who began playing for the National Team in 1976-77 at the World Championships. He joined the Russian League in 1978-79 with Moscow Dynamo and played there for 15 different seasons. Mostly known for his International contribution, Pervukhin played in the World Championships on 9 different occasions, all 3 Canada Cups in the 1980’s and the 1980 and 1984 Olympics. He finished his International career with a medal in every World Championships in which he played, including 6 golds; a gold medal and a silver medal in 2 Olympics; and the gold medal in the 1981 Canada Cup.

This medal is quite large, 2 ¼ inches round and is quite heavy. The medal comes in a custom display box. A beautiful and rare medal from the former Soviet Union.
