1990-92 Peter Bondra Washington Capitals Game Worn Jersey – Rookie
Lot #34

This road red air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Peter Bondra during the 1990-91 NHL playoffs, during his rookie year. Bondra also wore this jersey during the 1991-92 NHL pre-season. The Washington Capitals selected Bondra in the 8th round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. Peter made his NHL debut with the Capitals in 1990-91 and spent the first 14 years of his 16-year NHL career with Washington before finishing up with brief stints in Atlanta and Chicago. During that time, Bondra was one of the NHL’s most dynamic goal scorers, scoring a career best 52 goals twice, in 1995-96 and 1997-98. Peter played in five NHL All Star Games and was also a regular on the international stage. Despite being born in Ukraine, Bondra called Slovakia home and represented them in numerous international competitions including the World Cup of Hockey, World Championships and a couple of Olympics. When all was said and done, Bondra had joined the prestigious 500-Goal club, ending his career with 503 Goals.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 75-year anniversary patch. The game wear on this playoff set sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, material pulls, a salted fight strap and fine inner pilling. Bondra wore this sweater as a rookie during the 1991 playoffs as his Capitals defeated the New York Rangers in the Patrick Division Semi-Finals and then succumbed to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins in the Patrick Division Finals. With the 75-year anniversary patch in tow, Bondra again skated in this sweater during the 1991-92 pre-season as this winger readied for his sophomore season. A terrific patched example worn by this 500-goal club member and 5-time NHL All Star during his rookie season, choice!
