This road blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Vincent Damphousse during the 1990-91 NHL season. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Damphousse with the 6th overall pick in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. This Montreal native began an 18-year NHL career in 1986-87 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he played for 5 years. Vinny next spent a year with the Oilers before joining the Montreal Canadiens in 1992-93. During his first of 7 seasons in Montreal, Damphousse won the only Stanley Cup of his career. His last stop was in San Jose, where he played for 6 years. After 1378 games played, Damphousse had lit the lamp 432 times and added 773 assists for a total of 1205 points. Damphousse, a 40-goal man, was a member of Team Canada’s 1996 World Cup squad and also played in 3 NHL All Star games.
Removed from the right breast of this gamer is the Ballard patch. The game wear on this sweater is on the lighter side with a salted fight strap and inner pilling most worthy of mention. Damphousse wore this sweater briefly during his last season with Toronto. Following the 1990-91 campaign, the Leafs stripped the Ballard patches off of their gamers to prepare them for use during the 1991 pre-season. After the season, Toronto used Vinny as the bait to pry Grant Fuhr and Glenn Anderson away from the Edmonton Oilers, therefore this jersey didn’t see action the following pre-season.
