1990-91 Steve Dykstra San Diego Gulls Game Worn Jersey - Inaugural Season - Photo Match
Lot #350

This home white mesh gamer by MSport was worn by Steve Dykstra during the 1990-91 IHL season, the San Diego Gulls inaugural year. After just one season of junior hockey in the WHL, this Edmonton native made his professional debut with the Rochester Americans in 1982-83. This tough guy spent parts of five seasons with the Amerks while making his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres during that span. Steve played for the Sabres for parts of three seasons before joining the Edmonton Oilers during the 1987-88 season. Dykstra appeared in 15 games with the Oilers during the 2nd half of the year and then watched as Gretzky and the gang went on to win their 4th Stanley Cup later that spring. Dykstra then spent the 1988-89 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins before wrapping up his NHL career with the Hartford Whalers in 1989-90. Dykstra’s minor pro career continued before he retired from the sport in 1998. Dykstra’s single season career best NHL PIMS total came in 1986-87 when he amassed 179 PIMS in just 37 games.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this 3XL sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and trauma, stitch pops, heavy washed out bloodstaining, a torn and un-repaired front collar and fine inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Dykstra wearing this exact jersey during the 1990-91 IHL season. A nice photo matched enforcers sweater that sports the letter of honor and hails from the San Diego Gulls inaugural season.
