1990-91 Rob Blake Los Angeles Kings Game Worn Jersey Rookie
Lot #30

This road black air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Rob Blake during the 1990-91 NHL season, his rookie year. The Los Angeles Kings selected Blake in the 4th round of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. In an NHL career that spanned 20 seasons, Blake spent 14 of those as a member of the Kings. After playing his award laden college hockey at Bowling Green State University, Blake began his initial 12-year run in LA in 1989-90, playing in 4 games. He soon after became one of the league’s best defenseman and was awarded the Norris Trophy in honor of such for his play in 1997-98. During Rob’s time with the Colorado Avalanche, he won his 1st and only Stanley Cup championship in 2001. His 240 career goals and 777 points are impressive as are his 1679 PIMS. Blake partook in 7 NHL All Star Games and was 4 times a 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star. On the international stage, Blake represented Team Canada in the World Championships, the inaugural 1996 World Cup of Hockey and in 3 different Olympics! In fact, Blake earned the honor of best defenseman at the 1998 Olympics as well as the 1997 World Championships. Blake was deservingly inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame in the class of 2014.

The 1990-91 season saw Blake burst onto the scene with a most impressive rookie campaign. He ranked 5th in Calder Trophy voting in what was a bumper crop of NHL rookies. Rob netted 12 goals and 46 points and added 125 PIMS in 75 regular season games. In 12 playoff contests, Blake added 5 points and 26 PIMS while wearing this sweater.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, a salted fight strap and heavy inner pilling. On the black player number is a black sharpie signature in Blake’s own hand. A terrific vintage Kings gamer that features nice game use and was worn by this Hall of Fame defenseman during his rookie season.
