1990-91 Paul Gillis & Mike Stapleton Chicago Blackhawks Game Worn Jersey – “1991 All Star”
Lot #17
This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by both Paul Gillis and Mike Stapleton during the 1990-91 NHL season. The Quebec Nordiques selected Gillis in the 2nd round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. This Toronto native made his NHL debut in 1982-83 with the Nordiques where he skated for 9 seasons before joining the Chicago Blackhawks during the 1990-91 campaign. Gillis went on to complete his 11-year NHL career with the Hartford Whalers. This tough guy partook in a combined 666 regular season and playoff games and amassed 1654 PIMS, which included three seasons of better than 200 PIMS per year.

The Chicago Blackhawks selected Stapleton in the 7th round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. This Sarnia native played for the Canadian National Team before making his NHL debut in 1986-87 with the Hawks. Mike played for five years in Chicago before representing 7 additional franchises during his 14-year NHL career.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the 1991 Chicago Stadium 42nd NHL All Star Game patch. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, plenty of washed-out bloodstains and inner pilling. After being worn by Stapleton during his 7 active games, Gillis arrived via trade from Quebec and inherited this sweater. Paul chipped in 5 assists in 13 games while displaying his rough and tumble style, picking up 53 PIMS. A tough to find example, featuring the coveted 1991 Chicago Stadium 42nd NHL All Star Game patch and nice game use.
