1990-91 Neal Broten Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey - Miracle on Ice Alum
Lot #30
This road green air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Neal Broten during the 1990-91 NHL season. The Minnesota North Stars selected Broten in the 3rd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. Broten, a native of Roseau, MN, was a key member of the celebrated 1980 US Olympic Gold Medal winning ‘Do you believe in Miracles’ squad. After skating for the University of Minnesota and winning the Hobey Baker Award, Neal joined his hometown Minnesota North Stars and as a rookie played in his first of three Stanley Cup Finals. Neal hails as the greatest Minnesota born player in NHL history and is a member of the US Hockey Hall of Fame. In 1985-86, Broten became the first American born player to score 100-points in a season with a 105-point effort that year. In 1994-95, Broten joined the New Jersey Devils and provided that missing veteran leadership as they went onto win the Stanley Cup. A year after retiring, the Dallas Stars honored Broten by retiring his player number 7. This Gold Medal winner was a two-time NHL All Star and was the recipient of the 1998 Lester Patrick Trophy.

The 1990-91 season was a special one for the North Stars as they made an improbable run all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals, only to fall to the mighty Pittsburgh Penguins. Broten put forth an outstanding effort in the 1990-91 postseason as he tallied 9 goals and 22 points in 23 games.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this 1st set sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, a well-salted fight strap and heavy inner pilling. Sewn to the inside hip is the official Minnesota North Stars game worn jersey and set tagging. Neal Broten gamers are revered by collectors and have proven somewhat difficult to acquire due in large part by their popularity among collectors. This road green, complete with letter of honor and hailing from a Stanley Cup Finals season should please the most ardent Minnesota North Stars or Miracle On Ice collector.
