Description
1990-91 Mike Ricci Philadelphia Flyers Game Worn Jersey - Rookie - 1st NHL Jersey
Lot #98
This road orange air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mike Ricci in the 1990-91 NHL pre-season during Mike’s rookie year in the league. The Philadelphia Flyers made Mike Ricci the 4th overall pick in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. Mike spent 2 years in Philly before being dealt to Quebec in the blockbuster deal that allowed the Flyers to acquire Eric Lindros. Mike spent 3 years in Quebec and then transferred with the club to Colorado where he played for 2 more seasons before joining the San Jose Sharks. Ricci called the Shark Tank home for 7 years before a final stint in Phoenix. All told, Ricci partook in 1099 games, scored 243 goals and 605 points. Ricci was part of the 1996 Stanley Cup winning team in Colorado, where his grit played a huge role in helping the Avs past their bitter western conference rival, the Detroit Red Wings en route to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup.

Offered here is Ricci’s road gamer from the 1990 pre-season, his first road NHL jersey. The game wear on this size 50 rookie sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, inner pilling, a fight strap that has succumbed to salt and rust and stitch pops at the front collar no doubt obtained at the hands of an opponent. Also worthy of mention is a beautiful bold black sharpie signature alongside the crest in Ricci’s own hand. The terrific game wear on this rookie sweater leaves little doubt that this fierce youngster was trying to prove his worth as the 4th overall selection in the draft, all while trying to earn a roster spot, which in fact he did.
