GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to present this jersey from the personal collection of Gaetan Lefebvre. Mr. Lefebvre personally obtained this jersey while working for the Montreal Canadiens. He served in the role of Assistant Trainer, Assistant Athletic Therapist and eventually became the Canadiens longtime Head Therapist. Mr. Lefebvre was a member of the Canadiens for their 1986 and 1993 Stanley Cup Championships. Mr. Lefebvre was also a member of Team Canada during the 1981, 1984 and 1987 Canada Cups where he served as their Trainer.
This white mesh gamer by Tackla was worn by Mats Naslund during the 1990-91 Swiss-A season. The Montreal Canadiens selected Naslund in the 2nd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. This Swedish native made his NHL debut in 1982-83 with the Canadiens. In doing so, Mats became the first European to lace up the skates for the fabled franchise. The diminutive 5’ 7” 160 lb. winger was the spark the Canadiens needed to help carry the offense through the remainder of the decade. Naslund played in Montreal for 8 seasons and scored a point per game while representing the storied franchise. In the process, Naslund set the mark for the highest scoring season for a Montreal LW as he registered 110 points on the strength of 43 goals and 67 assists during the 1985-86 season. Mats followed that up with another 19 points in 20 playoff games and was in contention for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Canadiens won the 1986 Stanley Cup. The 1988-89 season saw Naslund and the Habs take another trip to the Stanley Cup Finals, his second and final time he played for Lord Stanley’s Cup. Mats returned to Sweden in 1990-91 and played for four more seasons before making an unexpected return to the NHL with the Boston Bruins in 1994-95. On the international stage, Naslund valiantly represented Sweden in numerous World Championships, the 1984, 1987 and 1991 Canada Cups as well as the 1980, 1992 and 1994 Olympics! Naslund won the 1987-88 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, was named 2nd Team NHL All Star in 1985-86 and played in three NHL All Star Games.
