1990-91 Dave Gagner Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey - "Stanley Cup Finals" - All Star Season
Lot #44
This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Dave Gagner during the 1990-91 NHL season. The New York Rangers selected Gagner in the 1st round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in 1984-85 with the Rangers, where he played for 3 seasons before joining the Minnesota North Stars in 1987-88. Gagner remained with the Minnesota/Dallas franchise for 9 years and then finished his 15-year NHL career with the Leafs, Flames, Panthers and Canucks. Gagner netted back-to-back 40-Goal seasons with the North Stars in 1989-90 and 1990-91, a year that saw Minnesota reach the Stanley Cup Finals. This crafty forward netted 318 career goals, 719 points and 1018 PIMS during his career.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals patch. The 1991 Stanley Cup playoffs saw Gagner explode with a 27-point effort over the course of 23 playoff games, as he lit the lamp 12 times and added 15 helpers. The game wear on this 4th set sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, an un-repaired slice and inner pilling. Sewn to the inside hem is the official Minnesota North Stars game worn jersey and set tagging. The 1991 Finals marked just the 3rd season that the NHL had their players wearing Stanley Cup Finals patches, a tradition that began in 1989. This jersey was prepared for Dave’s use in the Finals but we have not been able to determine if it saw any Finals action. Gagner’s 1990-91 season was the best of his career, as he netted 40 goals and 82 points, earning himself a spot in the 1991 NHL All Star Game. He followed that up with an incredible 27-point playoff effort that catapulted the North Stars to the Cup Finals with a legit chance to defeat Mario’s Penguins.
